Dropped by Haji Lane this morning to avoid long queues and the disappointment of sold-out bakes.
Tried the viral torched marshmallow hot chocolate ($8), even if they were a bit late to the trend. This drink earned a rating of 3.5/5; it was definitely too sweet for someone who isn’t a huge chocolate fan. A less sweet, creamier, and thicker version would have been ideal. Replacing the milk chocolate with dark chocolate could introduce a pleasant bitterness.
Despite the sweetness, the perfectly torched marshmallow added a delightful touch to the drink.
Next, indulged in a selection of pastries: a French Kouign Amann (butter cake), a mixed fruit pastry, and a pistachio raspberry financier. There were no regrets in the choices, with the Kouign Amann standing out as the favorite. The layers were wonderfully flaky, and the rich, caramelized outer crust made it an irresistible treat.
